Most of the memorial inscriptions summarised below are members of the families I am researching, although many of them refer to members of collateral lines. A proportion of them have yet to be linked to my research interests and some may eventually prove to be completely unrelated. They are grouped by surname and the earliest year of death mentioned.

Also Eliza wife of the above who departed this life August 14th 1895 aged 74 years. In memory of William Cattley 1788-1835, only child of John and Anne Cattley, resident of Wood Street, Barnet. Patron of horticulture, collector of orchids and tropical plants. Orchid genus Cattleya was named in his honour in 1821 [from a recent memorial plaque on the bank opposite to the entrance to the church].

DAVIS

Sacred / to the Memory of / David Davis / who departed this life / Sunday 15th May 5630 / aged 70 years. Hebrew inscription reads: "Honest without blemish, feared God, loved justice, pursued the way of righteousness, The Honorable Mr David Ben Chaver (an honorary rabbinic diploma) Reb Yaacov Davis died  Sunday 14th Iyar and was buried the next day (Monday) in the year 5630. May his soul be bound up in the bond of life. (died Sunday 15th May 1870)" [SW section, row 54, grave 28]

In memory of Thomas Dowding of this parish who died Oct 14 1784 aged 81 years, also Elizabeth his wife, she died March 8 1747 Aetat.
