John Hall ( 1769 - ? )

John Hall, the third son and fourth child of Ebenezer Hall and Lydia Gregory, was baptised at St. Mary's, Wirksworth on 28th June 1769. He married Ann Goodall, daughter of Gilbert Goodall and Mary Staton, at Wirksworth on 10th September 1792.

John and Ann had five children:
  • Sarah Hall, born in 1793 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth
  • Gilbert Hall, born on 9th December 1796 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth, died 23rd May 1870, married Elizabeth Slack(born on 30th October 1797 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth, died 17th March 1863) on 18th April 1816
  • Lydia Hall, born in 1804 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth
  • Joshua Hall, born in 1809 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth, died in 1823 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth
Ann Hall died aged 40 years in May 1811 in Middleton-by-Wirksworth. She was buried on 16th May 1811. John appears to have survived her until at least 1832, as a John hall, Freeholder, is listed in the Poll Book for that year. His burial is not recorded in the Wirksworth register before 1837, but he is not listed in the 1841 census for Middleton and had presumably either died or moved elsewhere by June 1841.
