West Wycombe, BKM
[O.S. Ref: SU 828 949]
Dedication: St Lawrence

The Grade I listed church, standing next to the Dashwood Mausoleum, was built in its current form around 1760 under instruction from Sir Francis Dashwood, founder of the Hellfire Club. The golden ball at the top of the tower is eight feet in diameter and can seat up to six people. There were unsubstantiated rumours that the Hellfire Club met inside the golden ball as well as in the famous caves underneath the Mausoleum [see also Medmenham].
