Alice de la Pole's alabaster transi tomb in Ewelme church. The 'in life' effigy lying on her tomb chest shows her dressed in full regalia wearing the Order of the Garter, below the chest her sculpted cadaver [see above] can be seen through elaborate reticulated arches.

Note: A depiction of a rotting cadaver in art (as opposed to a skeleton) is called a transi.
